HBK Engineering is seeking an experienced Structural Designer to support projects within a team of engineers and project managers, focusing on structural and geotechnical utility infrastructure designs as part of HBK's rapidly expanding service offerings across power, renewables, telecom, gas and municipal engineering sectors. The ideal candidate will drive client success through project execution, contributing to the growth and excellence of our organization.

Within the HBK organization, the Structural Designer will primarily use AutoCAD to support a range of design tasks, including plan production, report preparation, and site inspections. This role involves close coordination with engineers and administrative staff to ensure accurate and timely project delivery.

Our Structural Team’s service offerings include but are not limited to design of permanent and temporary structures such as poles, manholes, vaults, and earth retention systems. Foundation work includes slab-on-grade, shallow foundation, deep foundations, helical pile design, pole foundations, solar equipment foundations, equipment pad design, structural support of electric vehicle charging projects, riser foundations, concrete pedestals, pipe protection slabs, utility supports and retaining walls.  Onsite evaluations are a large part of the work provided by HBK as well, including transmission towers, manholes, vaults and tunnels.  HBK projects span the US and our team is growing to support the increasing demand for our services.

Description:

  • Produce detailed structural and geotechnical design drawings, including concrete and steel framing, foundation plans, and details for steel, concrete, masonry, and wood.
  • Apply AutoCAD expertise to develop and manage design elements in coordination with utility construction plans, ensuring adherence to department CAD standards.
  • Revise plans based on redlines and prepare accurate as-built drawings.
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers across disciplines to resolve design issues and support project development.
  • Maintain organized project electronic files and archives.
  • Provide guidance on CAD techniques and support skill development within the team.
  • Continuously develop expertise in approved CAD applications.
Qualifications:
  • An Associate’s degree or related technical certificate
  • 5+ years structural detailing and/or drafting experience

Essential skills:
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software

Preferred skills:
  • Strong working knowledge of MicroStation
  • Construction experience
  • Utilities experience
  • Detailing experience with concrete, reinforced concrete, wood, masonry, and structural steel

Pay range: $28.00 per hour to $50 per hour, commensurate with experience.

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and the potential to participate in our discretionary annual incentive bonus program.
