IT Systems Administrator

A systems administrator will be working with company system networks to ensure that they run efficiently by maintaining software updates, designing and implementing new system structures, monitoring server activity, and auditing server security. This position offers the selected systems administrator the opportunity to be part of a team of IT professionals who provide in-house network hardware and software support for over 400 employees. In addition the systems administrator is responsible for responding to user calls and trouble reports and maintaining network connectivity across multiple offices.


  • Configure and maintain Servers, Switches, Backup Systems
  • Maintain and deploy VMware system
  • Maintain and deploy Backup systems
  • Administer Microsoft Exchange Server
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues related to network and email connectivity
  • Run diagnostic programs to resolve problems
  • Resolve technical problems with Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), and other systems
  • Install and implement of Windows infrastructure systems
  • Act as an Active Directory Administrator
  • Act as a file and storage server administrator
  • Maximize network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades
  • Deploy new users and PCs to network
  • Work on HBK related technology projects
  • Perform other duties as determined by the IT Director



  • 5+ years combined professional and educational experience in the field working with enterprise networks
  • Understand the Microsoft Domain and Microsoft Exchange environment
  • Virtualization (VMware environment)
  • Working knowledge of a range of diagnostic utilities
  • Possess professional Network qualification, e.g. MCSE, CompTIA, Network+, or equivalent Other IT networking certifications are a plus.
  • An excellent in-depth understanding of Computer Networking and services – DHCP/​DNS/​TCP/​IP
  • Knowledge of security mechanisms and components (e.g., firewalls, routers)
  • Fundamental understanding of network and security infrastructure concepts, technologies, protocols, and solutions


Essential skills and experience:

  • Experience with networking devices (Dell/Cisco/Palo Alto) and the concepts they exemplify
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to proactively manage work load.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.


Valued but not required skills and experience:

  • Microsoft Certifications
  • VMWare Certified Professional
  • Palo Alto Networks Certification or experience
  • Cisco Certification or experience
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches and firewalls
  • Experience with live configuration and troubleshooting of layer2 and layer3 devices
